Intro to Meditation
Meditation is often imagined as sitting cross-legged with a perfectly quiet mind, but that image keeps many people from ever trying. The truth is, meditation can take many forms and does not require an empty mind or a certain personality type. It simply requires curiosity and a willingness to practice.
Whether you’ve never meditated, tried it before and decided it “wasn’t for you,” or already have a practice you’d like to expand, this workshop is designed to meet you exactly where you are. We’ll explore the neuroscience behind meditation and why it can feel challenging at first, including what’s happening in the brain and nervous system and why distraction is not failure, but part of the process.
Together, we’ll experience several different forms of meditation. You’ll leave with practical tools and the understanding that meditation is not about doing it “right,” but about finding what works for you — beginning small and growing at a pace that supports your life.

The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year — a natural moment to pause and reset. This 90-minute class blends gentle somatic work, a slow and steady flow, and deeply supportive restorative rest to help you:
unwind end-of-year tension
calm your nervous system
slow down before the holiday rush
feel lighter and more grounded
enter winter with a sense of steadiness
About the somatic part:
Somatic movements help you tune into how your body is feeling in real time. By slowing down and noticing sensation, your muscles may release automatic holding patterns and your system can shift out of “high alert.” The movements are small, gentle, and accessible to all levels.
